The Magnet Program Director (MPD) workshop provides definition to the MPD role by exploring and discussing its relationship to nursing staff, executive leadership, and the organization. The MPD workshop describes the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully meet the demands of this role, and addresses the implications of the MPD role to the organization. The workshop presents detailed information about the components of the initial application, the document review, and the site visit. During the workshop, participants will identify tools and strategies to organize the journey and motivate staff throughout the organization

Objectives
  • Identify the character, skill set, and role of the MPD.
  • Recognize the responsibilities, accountabilities, and suggested authority of the MPD.
  • Describe the selection, support, training, and role of Magnet champions.
  • Explore methods to engage and energize Magnet champions upon the journey.
  • Recognize the process of gap analysis and document organization.
  • Describe the core elements of project management and action planning for process change.
  • Explore the elements that support the documentation of the Magnet application.
  • Recognize the sources of evidence for the Forces of Magnetism.
  • Discuss methods to market and leverage the Magnet recognition advantage in your service area through successful designation and celebration.
