Advanced Diabetes Management

In 2001, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) collaborated to create the Advanced Diabetes Management Certification Program, which included the following four certification examinations: Advanced Diabetes Management – Clinical Nurse Specialist; Advanced Diabetes Management – Nurse Practitioner; Advanced Diabetes Management – Registered Dietitian; and Advanced Diabetes Management – Registered Pharmacist. This program has been transferred to AADE.

Effective January 1, 2010, ANCC discontinued administration of the four Advanced Diabetes Management certification examinations.

As part of the sale of the Advanced Diabetes Management Program to AADE, AADE is now responsible for all activities related to both initial certification by examination and renewal of certification, including but not limited to the application process, eligibility determinations, exam administration, score reporting, issuance of initial certification, renewal, and appeals.

ANCC no longer accepts applications for certification in Advanced Diabetes Management. Beginning January 1, 2010, questions about verification of credentials and certification renewal should be directed to the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

Information can be found on the AADE's website or by emailing bcadm@aadenet.org.
